The Turnhout bookbindery has confidence in the market for beautiful books. In order to continue to meet high quality standards and realistic lead times, it has been decided to replace a number of machines.
A Kolbus DA370 was recently installed to make bindings for hardcovers. A fully automatic machine, where grayboard is cut into a 3-piece band or where 2 parts can be fed in with the addition of a backboard from the roll. Together with the DA270, the combined output is approximately 6,000 tires per hour. A MullerMartini Ventura Connect was chosen for sewing. This gathering sewing machine has 20 gathering stations that are linked to 2 Ventura MC200 sewing machines. This machine has a maximum capacity of 24,000 sewing stitches per hour. In addition, the bindery retains the capacity of the existing Multiplex gathering-sewing machine, consisting of a 12-station gathering unit, linked to 2 Aster sewing machines and a stand-alone Aster sewing machine. Of course, all sewing machines have an optical control to ensure that no collection errors can be made. The new machine is expected to be installed in the spring of 2024.
